Season 2010 – Double emotion

To make it easier to identify, the mains division with the 420hp Porsches became the “997”, while the Light division, with the 390hp became the “Light 996” – numbers are a reference to the factory code for each of the car’s platform.
The great event of the year however would come in september. In that month, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Brasil took a huge step: holding a race outside Brazil – more precisely in the Buenos Aires racetrack in Argentina. Success was such that it carried the series to a great expansion of frontiers in 2011. Another new track that year was Velopark in Nova Santa Rita, Rio Grande do Sul Estate. Still in Buenos Aires, the organizers attempted something that would happen again a few times in the future: join both divisions in a single race, with separate podium and points.
The more powerful division got some heavyweight names. Ricardo Rosset, former F1 driver and Alexandre Barros, former Worldwide Motorcycle racer, were the ones dueling for the title yet they had to endure drivers such as Ricardo Baptista, Clemente Lunardi, Tom Valle, Marcel Visconde, Maurizio Billi and Leo Burt, which were most often on the podium. Constantino Júnior and Miguel Paludo, those who fought for the title the two previous years, raced six times each and won two races. As i 2009, the first stage took place in Curitiba as support event for the FIA WTCC. The first race of the year had an interesting outcome: the top five drivers finished all within the same second.
In the Light division, André Posses achieved his second championship after winning seven out of ten races. The other wins came from Eduardo Azevedo, Fernando Barci e Rodolfo Ometto. In the overall score, however, they remained behind Edu Guedes (second place), Gilberto Farah (third) and Sylvio de Barros (fourth). Despite Posses’ dominion, there was no lack of excitement: all races were extremely competitive with many duels and “tangled” cars all around.
